July 21, 2023 is a historic date for Fabiana Mentari Putri Wijaya, one of the study assignment students from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia. The State Civil Apparatus (ASN) who is on duty at the Yogyakarta-Magelang Agricultural Development Polytechnic (Polbangtan Yoma) has completed the thesis examination in private and was declared passed on that date. The thesis entitled “Heritability of Semen Quality Traits of Beef Cattle Bulls in Indonesia” was tested by two examiners from the UNDIP Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Masters Study Program, namely Dr. drh. Enny Tantini Setiatin, M.Sc. and Dr. Ir. Rr. Retno Adiwinarti, M.Sc. and Sugiharto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D. as the thesis committee.
Under the guidance of Dr. Ir. Sutopo, M.Sc. as the main supervisor and Asep Setiaji S.Pt, M.Sc., Ph.D. as the supervisor of the members, the student who is fondly called Mentari conducted research at the Singosari Malang Artificial Insemination Center (BBIB Singosari). The data collected during the research has also been published in a Scopus indexed international journal (Yuzuncu Yil University Journal of Agricultural Sciences) with the title “Fresh Semen Quality of Bos taurus, Bos indicus and Bos sondaicus Bulls in the Tropical Conditions”.
The research that has been carried out by Mentari is expected to make a useful contribution not only to the advancement of science, especially in the field of livestock reproduction and breeding, but also to contribute to the progress of BBIB Singosari and the development of livestock, especially nurseries in Indonesia. Finally, this research and international publication that has been carried out is a very neat form of collaboration between the UNDIP Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture and BBIB Singosari.
